Practice Clinical Pharmacist
"I am a practice pharmacist directly employed by Plas Menai Health Centre. With over thirty years experience as a community pharmacist I joined the practice in April 2017.
My role involves - conducting medication reviews where I assess your understanding of the medication that you have been prescribed, why the medication has been prescribed, how they should be taken, if there are any issues with potential side effects or interactions with other medication which may be taken (either prescribed or purchased over the counter). In essence, I make every effort to ensure that you the patient will gain maximum benefit from your prescribed medication.
The medication review process will also include an explanation of blood test results and how these reflect the effectiveness of your treatment and also to identify any potential side effects.
I'm a firm believer that there is no "magic bullet" and there is no substitute for a healthy lifestyle. Therefore, I will take every opportunity to discuss, explain (Not Preach) the benefits of stopping smoking, below guideline alcohol consumption, healthy diet and exercise.
I have recently qualified as an Independent Prescriber, specialising in the treatment of high blood pressure. I will be running Hypertension Clinics which will target patient's who have been newly diagnosed with hypertension - or hypertension which has been difficult to control. Rest assured, I will make every effort to address your concerns and questions to the best of my ability. If I do not know the answer I will find out or refer you to the appropriate clinician".
